I'm a fan of LIbreOffice Calc for stuff I do out of the office. In the workplace. LibreOffice cannot and does not make for a good replacement for my department's work with risk models and (relatively) large data sets. Calc just isn't there yet.
I played with Calc's pivot tables, and they have promise but I found them clunky. I used the iWork suite a decent amount in grad school and liked it. But, my needs were relatively light. Numbers isn't in the same league as Excel, and Numbers' user experience drives me batty. Pages is pretty good, and I recommend it. Keynote has always been the gem of the iWork suite, IMO.
I mostly use iWorks; this lets me do a lot of things really fast (since the apps open faster) and because everything is connected through iCloud, I can update and move things around at will. I have and occasionally use Office, but only if I have to collaborate with others (on that note, I sometimes use Google Docs and such; the two places I work have two different sets of apps they use).
In general, as a professor, I have to show documents and stuff in class. I’ve experimented with Office online apps (so I’d have access to everything) and using it online to show things to students is super extra clumsy. I also find using OneDrive to be something of a chore. Also, weird problem; I work in Hungary, but do everything in English, and yet, the stupid interface for Word wants to stay in Hungarian, despite the fact the system OS (Windows 10) is the English version. This REALLY burns me, as while I do speak Hungarian, app menus and such use different terms than I’m used to. Figuring out things quickly in the classroom while lecturing or, worse, running a workshop, makes me want to tear out what little hair I have left. So I tend towards iWork online apps they’re easy to use, no muss, no fuss.
